Simpson's History
The Simpsons, was created by cartoonist Matt Groening. He named all of the main characters after members of his immediate family, except for Bart. Bart in an anagram for Brat, which is extremely appropriate. The Simpsons first hit American television in 1987, as a series of 30 second shorts produced for the comedy series, The Tracey Ullman Show.

It was instantly acclaimed by critics and fans alike as one of television's most accurate and most hilarious portraits of the American, dysfunctional family. It received the 1990, 1991, 1995 and 1997 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program.
